Atwater, California & Fire Station Castle AFB

We were able to stop in Atwater, California and visit with Donna Farmer,  who Linda worked with at the BX on Castle AFB back in 1967-1968.  I was at Castle AFB from July 1966 to April 1970.
Donna took us around Atwater, the old airbase and Merced. It was good to see the area, but of course after all those years nothing looked the same.  Here are some pictures of our visit.
A few pictures of the wine country in California around Napa.

The Castle AFB fire station is now a Merced Country fire station.  These doors are where the structural trucks were parked. I believe the door on the left was the rescue truck, next bay was 530B and then the 750A, I think.

This was the mess hall.

The kitchen which looked nothing like this.
